Server settings unavailable

The Plex Media Server download area does not offer beta versions.

The download area provides Plex Pass / Beta versions for logged-in users when the ā€œPlex Passā€ option is enabled. It is enabled in that screenshot, and 1.23.0.4497 is the current beta version.

I did not know that! I thought that the Pass button was to enable plex pass on the download. Thanks for be so informative.

Thanks Again

Ahhh, that (mis-)interpretation makes sense too, I follow you. It’s not obvious on the download page that ā€œPlex Passā€ == ā€œBetaā€.

You can definitely use the non-beta version of PMS with a Plex Pass, if you don’t want to live the crazy beta life.

Same thing as others reporting here. I had upgraded to 1.23.0.4497-a1b1f3c10-x86 and the ā€œServer Settings Unavailableā€ and general lack of access to the server kicked in. Rolled back to PlexMediaServer-1.22.3.4392-d7c624def-x86 and it’s all good again. Funny thing is, I had upgraded to both .4438 and .4459 and those had ā€œseemedā€ to be stable – but when I tried rolling back to either of those… same problem. .4392 seems stable.

Still in the same boat here, with all of the same symptoms and the .4392 workaround.

Same for me on Debian/TrueNAS. I’m still running the workaround from above, but without it also the .4497 wouldn’t work.

Last fully working version is still #1.22.3.4392

We discovered an issue in 1.23.0 with some changes to how we include Python modules that is causing issues for certain plugins (specifically SubZero) - this results in PMS waiting on the plugins for few minutes before it continues.

This can manifest the ā€œSettings not availableā€ and not being able to create new libraries for the first few minutes after starting the server.

If you are using 1.23.0 and have SubZero installed this is most likely the cause and it has been fixed in 1.23.1 which will be released to beta soon.

Huh, ok. Well, I don’t use the SubZero plugin, but in fact I use another plugin, trakt.tv. I guess the same issue applies here then.

Anyway, I’ll wait for the latest version. Thanks for the heads-up.

I do not use ā€œSubZeroā€ but I did start receiving this issue after updating to 1.23.0. I have just now updated to 1.23.1.4528 and the issue is still there.

Please provide some server logs.

PM’d you. I have the logs zipped up. They are not sanitized at all. How do I send them to you?

Bottom line – any PMS version after 1.22.3.4392-d7c624def-x86 is not working for me.

As soon as I roll back to 1.22.3.4392, PMS works flawlessly. I do not have any plugins installed. If I install any version past .4392, one of three things happens.

  1. The server (and settings) are unavailable.
  2. If the server is ā€˜found’ there are extended periods where all the libraries and thumbnails have seemingly endless spinning loading circles
  3. If I try to play any content, there is an extended spinning loading circle followed by the media not playing

Again, under .4392 NONE of this happens – thiese errors manifest with v1.23 and beyond.

I am still running Windows 7.

Please provide some server logs.

Thanks Dr. Z. To be clear, would you like me to install 1.22.3.4523, and then attempt to generate a log?

I need logs from 1.23.x which you say is the problem. I need logs from that version.

You can install that version, run it for a bit then install 1.22.3 again after a few minutes, then grab the logs zip file (it will have the previous installation logs too).

Can you provide me the MD5 hash of that version?

certutil -hashfile PlexMediaServer-1.22.3.4392-d7c624def-x86.exe MD5

Hi, this did happen to me recently, just not sure it was Version 1.22.3.4523. If I remember correctly I opened the plex server and tried to claim the server, that did not work. I tried logging out and then back in and tried to claim the server, that did not work. About this time I noticed that ā€œremote accessā€ was showing a problem, I believe I had to enable remote access, then when that showed a green checkmark I was able to claim the server. currently, all is well.

I can confirm this. Windows 7 Plex is broken after after 1.22.3.4392-d7c624def-x86.

I’m having this exact same issue on my Windows 7 Plex Media Server for several weeks now.
On the server settings page where there are [SETTINGS] and [MANAGE], all the pages from ā€œGeneralā€, ā€œRemote Accessā€ … and ā€œLibrariesā€ … ā€œPluginsā€ just end up showing ā€œServer settings are unavailable.ā€.
I noticed this issue with server version 1.23.0.4497 and the latest version 1.23.1.4528 doesn’t fix the problem.

Is anyone running into this problem on other than Windows 7?
I wonder if this issue is specific to Windows 7.
