Server settings unavailable

Uninstalled Plex Media Server and installed the last known good version 1.22.3.4392, then everything is back to work great on Windows 7 now.

Make sure you turn off automatic Server update.

Probably Plex released 1.23.x.xxx with some breaking changes without actually testing it on Windows 7.

Windows 7 users will have to stick to 1.22.x.xxx for the time being until Plex fixes the regression.

I have the same problem with actually every 1.23.x version, platform is FreeBSD (TrueNAS).
Since I know that have a second jail (VM) runs with the 1.23.x versions until it works again :-D. But there is no database/library. And with my live system I stay with 1.22.3.4392.
I don’t use any plugins with both jails.

Which is the preffered Way for submit Logs?

1.23.1.4571 seems to fix the issue. At least for me it did. Server Settings are now available. I had also noticed that for a while (maybe at the same time that Settings disappeared) new episode metadata was not downloading. That issue was resolved as well.

I also see that 1.23.2.4584 is now available. I am installing it tonight. If it causes the issue to come back I will reply and let you know.

Thanks @rgraville !

Can anyone also having this issue just make sure they’re running the latest release available and then send me server logs if you’re still experiencing the issue.

Plex Media Server.log.zip (4.5 KB)
I have sent you the log file… Couldn’t use the easy way because of course settings are not working. I am using distribution file PlexMediaServer-1.23.2.4584-bdefd2026-FreeBSD-amd64.tar.bz2. I hope you can fix this or I am stuck at the old version until a working upgrade is released.

Thanks

I just updated to Version 1.23.1.4571 and it seems to be working. I have the settings options back.

After updating to 1.23.2.4584 I can still see server settings.

You might try getting 1.23.1.4571 then upgrading from there to 1.23.2 and see if that helps.

Hi rgraville, I gave it a try but same result. Cannot see server settings.

Same issue here.

Configurations:

  • OS: TrueNAS-12.0-U3
  • PMS version: PlexMediaServer-1.23.1.4571-6119e8eed-FreeBSD-amd64.tar.bz2
  • Installed Plugins: LocalTVExtras.bundle

I have just sent a server log to @drzoidberg33 I wish it helps.

I saw the new 1.23.2.4600 version. Tried the install but still the same problem.

I noticed that my Plex media server’s libraries stopped updating. Until now I have never had an issue, and that is going back at least 5 years. When I try to open the media server through the app it will not load. When I run the diagnostic tool in my browser it says the server address is not responding after multiple attempts. If I just navigate to plex by searching in chrome it actually does let me open my server after logging in. When viewing the server in this way, the libraries are not completely updated here either. Lastly when I go to settings and servers it just says ā€œServer settings are unavailableā€. After doing some research it seems ā€œserver settings are unavailableā€ is an issue many people are having after Plex updated to it’s newest version (1.23.1.4602-280ab6053). Many said they could get it working temporarily by uninstalling and re-installing the older version (1.22). Unfortunately I do not know how to do this. I have tried everything from uninstalling plex media server and all apps, and reinstalling plex media server multiple times. I even created a new account. Most recently I just deleted my media server in the hopes I could recreate a new one. Of course the only way to do that is to open the media server after reinstalling it, but as previously mentioned it will not open in this way. When navigating to plex by searching, and then logging in, there is no option to create a new media server. This is getting ridiculous! Its just a shame because I have really enjoyed using Plex all these years, and now its going to end in a horrible way. I am utterly shocked that Plex does not have some kind of technical support team. Even a limited one for rare situations like this would be better then nothing. I will greatly appreciate any help anyone could provide.

I tried 1.23.1.4571, which fixed the issue for me. I then installed 1.23.2.4600 and it is working too. No spinning loading circles, no timeout, server settings are available.

mine is like this too :frowning:

1.23.2.4625 is also broken still. Hope this gets resolved by the end of the week. I also can’t add new shows since this issue started. The match menus are blank and don’t work.

I installed 1.23.2.4625 but it didn’t fix my problem. Settings still not available. Good to see some people are having success but on my FreeNas install no dice.

I updated 1.23.1.4571 and then to 1.23.2.4625 on TrueNAS 12.0; everything was working fine until the updates. Now server settings unavailable and cant match movies or tv shows. Match item just shows up blank with no options. Any help appreciated!

I tried the latest update listed on the client as a new release, 1.23.1.4602, which seems like a step backwards… It didn’t fix the problem.

I’m having the same issue as the OP - So far I’ve tried:

rebooting my computer
downloading & updating to the latest PMS build
uninstalling & reinstalling said build
clearing the login/cache data in the registry

My server works, it will add new media to existing libraries & plays media without trouble - I just can’t access any settings or information on my specific server except for the first group of ā€œStatusā€ items.

All pages under the headings of ā€œSettingsā€ & ā€œManageā€ return the ā€œServer settings are unavailable.ā€ error.

I have tried accessing it through /localhost/, /lanIP/, /127.0.0.1/ & /plex.tv/ with no observable difference in results.
