Server Version#:1.28.2.6151
My server was not responding to my web client, so I went onto my Qnap and stopped and started the service. I then noticed that my system began transcoding movies that I had not requested. I turned off remote access and it just keeps going. From one movie to the next. There seems to be no way to stop the process.
You can see next to the items on the activities dashboard that this is downloads. From the looks of it you’ve started a bunch of them – if it’s been a wider download job, Plex could simply be picking it up earlier.
I’m not sure about the duplicate/redundant entries (looks like this is actually only about 2 movies being downloaded → The Boxtrolls and Frozen II) – could be those are remnants of the service being stopped/restarted.
I found an old device that had these listed for download. The multiple entries is normal for my server. At some point there were like 8 Frozen II options listed. The problem is they never finish. Since the new version of sync came out only a fraction ever finish. These movies were set to sync on an ipad more than 4 months ago. I guess it has just been trying ever since.
Thank you for the very quick response
Delete the download job / item on the iPad. It might be worth trying to download them one at a time while keeping the app on the iPad active to avoid the download from being interrupted by the app being put to sleep by iOS.
I deleted all of the items that were trying to sync and that fixed the problem. No need to worry about fixing it now, I gave up on syncing a while back. After messing around with different settings the best I could ever get it to do is sync one item. Every item after that would just go through the process but never result in a movie on the remote device. If I restarted the service on the NAS then I could do another one. I just decided it wasn’t worth it. I have been a plex pass holder for more years than I can count and sync has always been a problem. Clearly not a priority. I keep seeing all this other junk they keep adding while the core function is still a problem. Maybe in another 10 years.
