I have used various video formats and pointed Plex to that folder, but Plex says “there are no items in this library” no matter what I do. I’m on Windows 10. The video file is otherwise fine and functional. Any help would be appreciated.
And you added a movie or TV or video library?
Yes, I added the TV Show library and pointed it to the appropriate folder.
I have never had much luck with Music Videos. The easiest and quickest way is to use the “Other Videos” category. You won’t have any metadata, but at least they are scanned and show up.
For them to work as a TV library, you need to to have a TV structure with shows, seasons and episodes, and use the same file structure as a TV shows library. You still won’t get any sort of metadata, though, and it doesn’t work very well neither
That’s exactly what I was about to write. I just tried adding it with “Other Videos” and it did show up.
I create collections by artist so that there appears to be some sort of organization. You can then change how the collections are shown, either as one single item, or both ways in the advanced settings in the “Edit Library” dialogue.
