I was under the impression that, since what I was asking for were more tools for administrators to use to admin the server I was making a single request with examples of the tools needed by the administrator to do a comprehensive job. That request was locked, and I was told to post each example as a separate request.
Parse-able logs within Plex Web itself. We should be able to view the log files within the web app just like on a router, cable modem or other types of servers. Having to navigate to some obscure directory to open these logs is to cumbersome for computer neophytes, and just a pain for some of us old timers.
Seriously here... Having to navigate to some off-the-wall directory to find out what is happening with the server is almost obscene. These logs should be available from within the Web App interface with the administrator's or owner's account. Too many times people are on these forums looking for solutions and the are told "post a log" and they reply "Where do I find it?"
Just because I'm running my Media Server on a Linux based NAS doesn't mean my logs are in the same place a Debian or Ubuntu Linux box has their's. On my server I have a BIG blue icon that has my administrator's account initial in it. this icon has a pull down that allows me to change users, look at announcements from Plex, etc. There should also be a Log Files there, that takes the admin to a separate page (Like the settings page) to look at the various types of log files, and allow for setting log file specific information. (When to purge, how big, what kinds of info, etc.)
Make sure we can at least copy this text into the clipboard so we can paste it into another document/website.
