Server unavailable/offline when windows user logged out

Server Version#: Version 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#: Version 4.12.3

Hi guys,

If another user logs onto windows on my desktop, my plex server says it’s offline/unavailable when I log back in (even if they don’t log me out, but only switch user).

I’ve found that the only way to reboot my server is to restart my computer.

It’s getting really frustrating and I can’t seem to find any solutions.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
George

Here’s a massive thread which addresses how to run Plex as a service on Windows (so it’s not depending on your user being logged in)

Thanks Tom,

I’ve downloaded this Wizard

github.com/cjmurph/PmsService/releases

What username and password are required in the initial ‘service credential’ prompt?

Is it my windows user account? If so, i don’t have a password set on it, but it’s saying invalid logon and won’t let me proceed.

I don’t know that particular app/script… (not a Windows user, so I never had to deal with that myself). Their Wiki says it should be the Windows account

Hello everyone =)
I apologize in advance for my English.

Today, faced with such a problem. Created a new Windows user to run RDP. An RDP user must have a password. when entering the system under a different user, not the one who was installing the server, I need to start Plex Server yourself. Because when installing Plex Server other users of Windows were not registered. To correct this misunderstanding, you need to make changes to the Windows registry.

The server runs on a computer with Windows 7!
1)
You need to go to the register branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This branch is responsible for autostart applications. Do it comfortably under the first Windows account.

Find the entry titled “Plex Media Server”.
Picture for example:

Copy the specified path, for example, into a blank notebook. It is easier.

Delete record.

Switch to another branch of the register:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Create a string parameter called “Plex Media Server”.

Edit it and enter in the field “value” path you copied in step 3.

Reboot you PC.
