"Server Unreachable......"

I am running Plex off of a Windows 10 machine with 16 GB of RAM, Intel i7 Processor, plenty of Drive Space (massive video library), GTX 750 TI w/ 2 GB of Video RAM. I usually stream to either my Roku Stick or my Roku 1. Prior to the last PMS update, my setup was running flawlessly. No issues, fully accessible from outside the network, very smooth. But ever since the last update, I keep getting “Server Unreachable…” every time I try and open the Plex app from Roku and am given the option to connect insecure on the same network. Usually after about a few seconds, it will find the server and reconnect.

Is this a known issue? Please note that the “Server Unreachable…” only happens on my Roku devices. I also run Plex on an XBOX 360, Android, and Apple iOS devices running the latest version of the OS and do not experience this issue. I also do not experience issues running any of my media through remote access.

So after messing around with the settings on the Roku players, I can say that there seems to be an issue with secure connections while signing in to Plex on the Roku and trying to stream content locally. I started seeing this a lot more with the newest version of Plex Media Server.

I went ahead and reinstalled the Plex app and chose to skip signing into my Plex account and manually adding my Plex Media Server’ static IP address. Plex is now more responsive and I am no longer seeing my previous issue. Content loads a lot faster now as well.

Just an FYI for anyone experiencing this issue, you might want to give this a shot.

Where did you manually add the IP address?

If you go to Manual connections, you should be able to specify the ip address and the port. If you sign out of the plex app, and skp signing in, you will be asked to manually specify the plex media server ip address. I do not have access to my Roku right now, but I will be able to provide a better answer once I am near my Roku.

im getting this issue on a Samsung android tv, my laptop is a MacBook 2010, I can barely use Plex at all, initially changing “create secure connection” to disabled allowed me to use Plex a few times, but its not working anymore.

So are you talking about signing out of the Plex app on the tv?
Im thinking my issue might have something to do with me getting a new modem and network, but thats just a wild guess.

Oh as I was typing this it just magically found my MacBook server, it seems to happen for the first 10 minutes whenever I freshly launch the Plex app on my tv.
