Downloaded the latest server update and a metadata refresh has wipes out all my TV series title card cover art, these are embedded in the file and it’s supposed to be using local metadata but nothing I do brings them back including the Plex dance.

Thanks for report. Is the art still shown as an option in the edit window in the web app?
Do you by chance still have the server logs from right after you updated and noticed this?
Thanks I can repro this and have submitted a fix. It will be addressed in the next PMS release.
We’ve had a recent PMS release and it’s still not showing
it didn’t make it into the recent release but bug report shows QA is reviewing so likely soon
I have same issue with TV series. I use Subler for most of my metadata so that it stays with the file. Older TV series episodes that were added before the last update keep their files’s episode art. However, it’s NOT available as an option now on anything. As a test I refreshed the meta data on an episode of a TV series and it pulled in episode art from some other source and the embedded episode artwork for the file isn’t available to choose.
From the previous posts about this issue, my interpretation is that the next Plex release will fix this? Also, what is expected to happen to the non-local artwork for TV episodes once a fix is in place? Will it stay until metadata is refreshed?
I do have this issue as well with my TV Show MP4 files with embedded images. I will appreciate it when this is fixed again. Thank you

I am having the same/similar problem with any new tv shows added. I meticulously add posters for all shows (over 1500 of them) and also seasons as loose files. And normally when I just add them with correct naming convention they automatically get picked up and assigned. The files with show-1.jpg or Season-01.jpg would be assigned as the image to use. if not I could request “refresh metadata” for the show and it would read and assign new images, this no longer works. It now does not prefer my local assets, although “use local assets”, prefer local metadata” is on on the library and always was.
I am very worried that all my shows is eventually gong to break. if i do a “refresh metadata” on an existing show with correct images it breaks and no longer uses my images.
I do not want to manually in Plex have to select what images to use becuase this locks them and I can not easily update them in future (meaning just replace show-01 with new image)
I am not exactly sure when this started happening, but it must be in the last month or 2. I was not actively adding new items recently.

I have ‘Clean Bundles’ turned off. I’m hesitant to manually trigger the process to run. Is there any danger of loosing my episode artwork if I do that?
Clean bundles removes unused bundles, for things that are no longer there like if you deleted a movie/episode/show. This is something that happens on it’s own regularly anyway so if not gone already I think it would be fine. it should not affect things for files you still have on server. Is there some specific reason you are needing to use that option?
Looking at bug report it shows this is fixed in 1.43.1 though i do not know the specific date that is getting released.
