I have not been able to update my server since I moved a year ago. It downloads but will not install.
Additionally, the location to back up my playlists “Plug-in Support/Databases” can’t be found searching my system. Thanks
- verify and repair your database. It might be damaged. Use the .bat file from here, while Plex server is shut down (use its task tray icon to stop it) DBRepair/Windows at master · ChuckPa/DBRepair · GitHub
- download the latest installer for the server from the link below. Uninstall the old server using the regular Apps control panel of Windows. Do NOT use any kind of “uninstaller” or System Cleaner app! Then reboot the machine and install the new server version.
The default location of the Plex data folder is in hidden folder. If you copy its address %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server directly into the address bar of Windows file explorer and press Enter, you will be taken there directly.
Thanks Otto. I found the location for the backup. Do I Download the bat file and then execute it? I’ve never “fixed” anything before.
