Server Version 1.28.1.6092 update

Server Version#: Version 1.28.1.6092
Player Version#: Version 4.84.1
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Build 19045.1889

So, I’m working night shift this week and was watching a tv show on Plex on my desktop. Worked great yesterday but this morning when I got home, I upgraded my Plex Media Server to the version shown and now I get the message “This server is not powerful enough to convert video”. My basic specs are as follows:

Intel motherbaord
I7 8th generation (8700K)
32 GB DDR4 memory
Primary (Windows/Plex Server) drive is a 500 GB WD SSD
Secondary (storage) drives total 23 TB Toshiba mechanical
Soundblaster Audigy FX 5.1 sound card

Does anyone have any idea why this update has removed my ability to watch many shows? I’ve so far found at least 15 episodes that give this error, they all use the AVI container type. In all cases, AVI files will always give the error while MP4 and MKV files will not. Converting over 4000 AVI files will take a bit of work and a lot of time for files that played yesterday. I changed the transcoder option to “Make my CPU hurt” from “Automatic”, but it did nothing. However, it plays just fine on my Fire TV cube.

At the very least I’d like to remove this update and go back to the previous version, although I never noted the previous version number as it was working fine.

Thanks

Well, got another update today, sever version Version 1.28.1.6104, AVI files still won’t play in Plex Web. I guess I have to watch what my wife chooses on the livingroom TV now. :frowning: Hello Chickflix lol.

Well, with the upgrade to server version 1.28.2.6106 and Plex Web version 4.87.2 at least the message has changed to “Not enough CPU for conversion of this item”. Task Manager tells me my CPU load is 5%, memory load is 35%, 0% for disk and network, pretty sure I shouldn’t be getting this message.

Any ideas would be welcome,

Well, I figured it out. I had checked “Disable video stream transcoding” in order to try to fix the problem with video freezing on my Amazon Cube. I had neglected to uncheck it when it didn’t work.

I think I’m having the same problem. Shows still work fine locally but refuse the work remotely giving the error “server is not powerful enough…” it worked yesterday but suddenly the same videos can’t be transcoded and viewed remotely. Clearly this is a problem with the update and needs a patch.
