Server Will Not Stay Connected to Remote Access

Box was just not ticked, it allows one to save entry without ticking it. So I saved it fine many times, but since I had not ticked the box, it was never enabled.

I’m glad I happened across this thread as it helped me resolve the same issue with PMS running on Windows. About 2 days ago I discovered remote access suddenly stopped working and nothing had changed on my LAN. Plex logs were showing the same “PubSub: Received notifyConnectivity event with incorrect async identifier” warning whenever I attempted to re-enable remote access. The web I/U would show access working, then 2 seconds later, revert back to not accessible. I verified the following:
-No jumbo frames
-No additional NICs on the server VM
-After working with my ISP to ensure nothing changed on my modem, ruled out double NAT or any interference from the modem.

I’m running Sophos UTM firewall appliance as a VM and because I also have a VoIP server in my lab I had performed some country blocking in the UTM appliance when hackers kept trying to brute force my VoIP box, including Ireland. I discovered in the logs dropped connection attempts to the Plex port of 32400, noted the IP and did a lookup.

Apparently, Plex has recently started running their cloud services out of AWS in the EU datacenter:

  eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com

I created an exception for my destination host and the Plex service port and, voila! Remote access restored.

Perhaps it would be useful for Plex to publish the origin networks from which connections might come? Google does this for SMTP servers for the same purpose.

I had similar issues also. Remote connection showing red after few seconds, web browser saying my server is remote, Sonos not playing music, only complain cannot access server…

I have done all the steps above and no help.

Then I cleared firewall states from prsense and enabled remote access again.

Now I can play again from Sonos and browser says server is nearby. Remote access is still red but I don’t care it works :slight_smile:

I didn’t reboot pfsense, just cleared all states for my plex server ip.
