Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563
Player Version#:
After the last update, my video files will not play off my server, regardless if I am on the desktop itself, PS4, my LG smart tv, or Roku. The files play flawlessly when using them locally with any other player and stream fine using means outside of Plex. If I could get an older version of Plex or if Plex could actually provide customer service (it would be nice since I paid them money for a lifetime subscription pass) and fix the issue, that would be appreciative. I do find it amazing that when Plex is working, I get updates at a minimum, once a week. Now that it’s not, there is no updates to be found. Plex is a great product when it’s working, the problem is when it is not, Plex does not provide customer support and wants users to help each other.
If you would like assistance troubleshooting why media is not playing, re-create the problem, then pull the server log files and upload them to the thread.
For prior versions of Plex Media Server, look in the Updates folder in the Plex Data Folder.
Regarding updates:
You may want to switch from the beta to public update channel. Beta updates, by their nature, are more frequent and not as stable as the public releases. The public updates are much less frequent, generally once per month. You can see the release dates in the announcement thread.
Unless the update has a needed feature or bug fix, consider not updating. My server is running 1.29.2 from last November. It is stable and I do not need any features/fixes in the 1.30.x releases. I’ll update at some point, but not until there is a compelling reason to do so.
