HI There…I am interested in getting Plex pass. 1 year subscription for now. With that I see i will be able to get hardware acceleration/transcoding (to enable it) Is that true? I have current problem where the movie etc will stop and spin for 5-10 seconds. Will this resolve the problem. I am running from a Intel i7 3.2GHz with 32GB RAM. Added a Nivida GTX 650 screen card.
Everybody says i need a Plex pass to enable hardware acceleration…IS that true???.
What other benefits will i get with a Plex Pass?
Thank you

A Plex Pass is required for hardware accelerated transcoding.
The GTX 650 is too old. It cannot be used for hardware accelerated transcoding.
The HD4000 graphics in the i7-3770 can be used for hardware accelerated transcoding of 1080p video (AVC/H.264, MPEG2, VC1). It cannot be used to hardware transcode HEVC video or 4K video.
If you wish to transcode 4K video, consider adding a newer GPU - Nvidia 1050 Ti or later. You will want a GPU that can decode and encode HEVC 4:2:0 10-bit video (see matrix linked below).
You could also use a 7th Gen or later Intel CPU. However, that would also require a new motherboard and memory.
