Setting a managed user restriction to not have live tv does not work. Live TV still shows up and the user can still watch live TV. I need to restrict this for a Kids account so they can only watch age appropriate content. I have to disable Live TV for all accounts under Online Media Sources in order to remove it from the Kids account. Which then removes it from all accounts. Please fix
User having access to the connected TV tuner / DVR → streaming what’s on OTA TV (Watching Live TV | Plex Support)
→ you can disable that in the user’s sharing restrictions
sorry… should have read your post to the very end.
Did you set a restriction profile for your kid’s managed user account?
I need to double-check if that also applies to the free live tv streaming (so even if the section is visible / enabled for some managed users, only appropriate channels should be visible – not sure each channel or individual stream has a content rating)
Apparently you can customize which channels to show but it’s not fully covered by the regular parental controls. So it appears you’re right… if that’s not sufficient, you’ll end up disabling this for all managed users (at least for now)
If you’ve set up a managed user for your child, you can personalize the channel lineup displayed for their account. Do that by switching to their account and personalizing the guide as normal. You can reorder the channels (e.g. putting the “kids” channels at the top) or hide any channels you don’t want them watching.
Note : While you can hide channels for that user, you cannot currently “lock” things or prevent them from personalizing the guide themselves. That includes potentially making channels visible again.
Thank you for looking into this. I do have this disable as of right now for all managed users due to this. Is there a reason to why we have the restriction option yet it doesn’t work? Is plex working to make this usable in the future?
I can only guess… I suppose it’s as simple as those stations not providing a content rating for individual channels or programs (at least I cannot see any).
