Making a Managed User Kid Friendly

Server Version#: 4.159.0
Player Version#: 2026.5.0

I am really struggling to make Plex kid friendly on iPad. I can’t use the generic age restrictions as it blocks films that I’m happy for my kids to watch. So instead I am using Labels which is working. However I cannot get rid of Live TV or On Demand from Home or the menu bar across the bottom, which is showing content which is clearly not age appropriate.

In the Managed user’s account, under Restrictions I have set LIVE TV & DVR ACCESS to No Live TV & DVR Access, but it still shows :man_shrugging:

Can someone please help as I thought it would be simple process to let my kids watch selected safe content, but I’m having a nightmare!

Thanks.

set the items on this page to either “Disabled”, or “Disabled for Managed Accounts”.

Thanks, that has worked.

Shame it turns off for me too. Luckily I don’t use any Online Media Sources, but silly this can’t be done on a per Managed User basis, it’s only a global setting.

At least the kids can only watch what I want them to watch now.

Thank you.

Only if you use a managed user account yourself. If you don’t, setting it to “Disabled for Managed Accounts” should retain it for you at least.

Apologies for my naivety, but as the “Admin” of the account, how do I not be a Managed User?

Thanks.

The admin is a “full” user account. i.e. not a managed one.
Each account which has its own set of credentials to login to plex.tv is not a managed account.
Only users who use the admin’s credentials to log in, and then use “Switch User” are the “managed” ones. https://support.plex.tv/articles/203948776-managed-users/

Thanks. Yes, now that MOVIES & SHOWS is set to Disabled for Managed Accounts, I can now see the Online Media Sources again!
