Hi
So I am a returning plex user, currently a Sky TV customer and contract due to end so now in a position to run my own setup again after moving house and renovations.

I am life-time subscriber so thought look at Plex live tv/dvr again as our main TV option.

Before investing to much money thought I would test to see how things have moved on since I last looked at DVR (3-4 years ago). The issue is in the UK we can not get hold of HD Homeruns so have limited options, or they are really expensive on ebay. So wanted to make sure before investing in a new tuner I would test with what I had.

So I have tested my ariel on my main freeview TV and can receive all the channels for my area. So I know I have a working ariel.

I have setup an Ubuntu Server and tried Plex and it sees my tuner and says support but when I type my postcode in TN39 (yes tried with capitals as seen that issue) I get very short/odd list of transmitters to scan from 2 in europe and then handful of the UK. It selects Wales as my local transmitter I live in East Sussex. My transmitter is Heathfield but that is not listed.

I can select UK Full Frequency scan, it does pick up some channels but none of the HD ones. Then hit and miss even when setup if it can tune to the channel.

So I thought it might be my tuner/server setup maybe linux and firmware/driver issues, so I setup tvheadend on the same server. That is able to find all the channels and play no issues.

With this info seems Plex is missing transmitter/frequency data.

I did experiment with other postcodes in the area, for some I get only XMLTV as an option.

Just seeing are there issues currently with Plex and its post code transmitter lookups ? as that’s the only thing I can think as working with TVheadend.

Cheers

Spencer
