Trouble scanning for DVB channels in UK

I am running plex with an Xbox USB tuner under Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel updated to 4.17). This shows up as an unsupported tuner in Plex, but I’m having trouble picking up channels. Firstly, the primary transmitter for my area (Hannington) isn’t in the list. However even trying UK All frequencies (and several other transmitters) results in no channels found. There should be a strong signal as another xbox tuner connected to an Xbox and the same aerial socket gets a full line up of channels.

Incidentally, the coverage checker here doesn’t seem to work, I get “Sorry, we couldn’t find any valid providers!” for any region, despite the logos of several UK channels being shown on the page

Has anyone had any luck with the xbox tuner in the UK? Any suggestions much appreciated

The Linux support for this tuner is very new. Officially supported by Plex is only the Hauppauge XBox tuner. That’s a completely different device.

Your device requires manual installation of firmware. Please read the following linuxtv document and make sure both firmware files are in place.

Thank you, the firmware was the problem, sorry that is something I should have realised. I had to manually assign a majority of the channels, not sure if this has anything to do with the missing transmitters
