Setting up DVR and scanning channels always reports no channels found.

I’m runnning the latest version of plex server on Ubuntu 16.04 with the ppa from b-rad/hauppauge (4.4 kernel) and a WinTV-DualHD USB tuner. The tuner is identified by the OS and I’ve followed the instructions found here http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/linux.html. When I go to Live TV & DVR in the PLEX settings and scan for channels nothing is found. I am not having this issue in windows, all the local OTA channels are discovered and play without issue.

One other thing that may be important to note. This is all running in ESXi 6.5 and the tuner is passed through to the VM but this shouldn’t matter, I’m not having the same issue with other operating systems.

It looks like it might be a permissions issue or the USB id is expected to be 2040:026d but is in fact 2040:826d. I don’t know enough about the video4linux tools or the drivers for this device to know where to begin troubleshooting. Any help would be very appreciated.

I think I may have found the cause of my issue. It looks like an audio device is needed for the software to tune the channel. Adding one in ESXi allowed the scan to find the channels and everything is working great now.
