ive got 2 desktops both running windows 8, ones in my actual bedroom and the others in my living room, both have media on them and neither are big enough to store all of the others media (furthermore both have a few external hard drives plugged in, too many to have on one computer), ive first set up plex media server on the computer in my bedroom, that worked PERFECTLY (was actually really impressed, the last program i used was boxee which was complete rubbish)
but now that ive installed it and signed in (with the same account) to the computer in my living room, i try to add a folder location to the media server, but its only showing me folders and drives on the computer in my room (aka the first computer i set up plex on) not the computer im actually using
is it possible to stream media from 2 computers to the same account using plex? if so how do i go about doing it?
so when you go to the tv can you not chose where to acces the files from
i too am having htis problem but purely from the point that im trying to setup a cliets machine with plex and it is not letting em add files to the plex system from that local pc?
i know this is an old thread, there are several threads out there with the same question so i picked one randomly.
i noticed that nobody in any of these threads asked this question.
i want to set up 2 computers (both with high specs) to share a single pms (for organization reasons). I was thinking by doing this way, i could share the computing power for transcoding. no necessarily sharing the power but splitting the workload. all the threads i see are people saying to create a map of the second computer. well wouldnt that still put all the transcoding work on 1 cpu? is there a way to run pms on BOTH computers but show as a single library when outside the network?
