This is probably a very stupid question but I’m evidently missing something.
I’ve Plex (server v1.9.6) running on a linux box. I’ve a DVB-T tuner attached, which is properly detected by Linux kernel and linux dvb tools work fine (with official Ubuntu kernel, no customizations required).
The “Technical Info, Limitations, and Incompatibilities” forum says that the main requirement is that the tuner must conform to the “Linux DVB API” which is my case.
Still, when I go to Plex - server - settings - Live TV & DVR - setup plex dvr, plex seems to search only for network attached tuners and apparently doesn’t even try to detect local tuner devices. Yet, the “Community Supported Tuners List” forum lists several locally attached tuners (not just network tuners).
How should I convince Plex to look for my local tuner?
What flavor of Linux? You may need to give Plex access to the tuner. For example, on Ubuntu, you would add the plex user to the video group.
If your tuner isn’t listed on the officially supported list (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/225877427) you probably need to ask this in the Community Supported Tuners forum.
The Incompatible Devices post might have some tips: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/289692/incompatible-devices-list#latest
Yes, that was it. I just needed to wait to get my account enabled to see unsupported tuners. I’m running ubuntu and plex was already in the video group.
