I’m new to Plex, moving from a ReadyNAS 102/DLNA server to a Mac Mini with a 3TB raid dedicated to Plex. I’ve been successfully streaming content to my Samsung 2017 TV, phones, laptops, ipads, Fire TV Stick this way, but I’m ready to upgrade.
My problem is that I live in the forest with minimal internet connection; the Plex system initially cannot be connected to the internet. I understand the server can be set to bypass authentication for clients using discreet IP addresses; this is fine.
But my question is about metadata; is there any way to gather metadata using a laptop at my local coffee shop, then feed it to the server back home? It’s possible to move the server temporarily to a wifi location, but it’s not practical to do regularly.
