Sever Briefly Scans in a Few Episodes Before Throwing Them Out and Grabs Incorrect Metadata

Server Version#: 1.23.2.4656

Clerks: The Animated Series used to be in my library correctly, then it seemed to think episodes 4 and 5 were unavailable. It turned out those two episodes were over the MAX_PATH set by windows. I shortened the filenames thinking that would solve the issue, but they still wouldn’t get picked up by the server. I then tried temporarily moving the show to another location, emptying the trash, cleaning bundles and optimizing the database before moving the show back. I briefly saw that Plex recognized the correct number of total episodes for the show (16) before changing to 14 and still lacking episodes 4 and 5. I’ve tried a few variations the above method to try to get the series picked up correctly. It’s also picking up the title as “Clerks - The Animated Series” instead of the correct " Clerks: The Animated Series". Fixing the title is of course simple, but I’m trying to include as much relevant information as I can.

I suggest you take another run at naming and structuring your files:

Clerks - The Animated Series\
.......Clerks - The Animated Series.S01E04.A Dissertation on the American Justice System by People Who Have Never Been Inside a Courtroom, Let Alone Know... [Rayor] [DVD-RIP] [5A5207BF].mkv

'cause that last attempt is a dismal failure:

Can you please be specific about what’s wrong with it?

I took out Episode Names as long as The Gettysburg Address, dots and hyphens where none should be. <----and got an instant, natural match.

I knew that a good match would reveal that: “Oscar Acceptance Speech” length Episode Name - so my goal was the match.

Nailed it. First try.

Note:

Plex can’t display those Episode Names in their entirety anyway:

I’m all for thoroughness, but ridiculous has to be circumvented somewhere along the line:

When the Episode Name is LONGER than the description - enter Ridiculous - and it’s wearing an orange hat.

I’ve deleted the first comma and everything after it and switched back to unicode elipses. I still was seeing 14 unwatched episodes on the home screen instead of the expected 16, but when I took a look at the episodes again, I discovered that episodes 4 & 5 were scanned in but still marked as watched for some reason. So at this point I’m even more confused as to what the issue was beyond exceeding MAX_PATH initially, but it’s working now so I’m just going to leave it alone and be thankful that it’s working again.
