Is it possible to share a single HDHomerun Quadro quad tuner across two plex servers?
Is it possible to allocate 2 of the 4 tuners to one plex server and the remaining 2 to the other plex server?
Is Plex / HDHomerun Quadro smart enough to know that a tuner is in use by another application or would they clash?

Many thanks in advance.

No

That specific tuner is able to be shared but Plex Server doesn’t handle it gracefully. To each server it will think it has 4 tuners available and if between the two server you schedule more recordings than tuners a recording will fail.

Plex assumes the tuner is dedicated to the DVR process so the recording would fail.

You can try but collisions are bound to occur.

I am sharing 2 HDHR Primes, an HDHR Quatro and an HDHR Quatro 4K across 2 Plex servers, 2 W7 HTPCs, a Jellyfin server and 3 Nvidia Shields. They all see all of the tuners (except for the W7 HTPCs can’t see the ATSC 3.0 tuners) and when any one of them wants to tune a channel it just picks the next available spare tuner for the program they want.

Now a few NOTES*** The Plex servers and the Jellyfin server cannot tune DRM protected channels from the Prime tuners. Also the Plex servers, W7 HTPCs and Jellyfin can’t handle the ATSC 3.0 channels from the Quatro 4K due to not having an AC4 audio decoder, but the Shields CAN tune ATSC3.0 w/ audio just fine although I have not tried to record an ATSC 3.0 broadcast.
