Now if I want to show something to my friend I need to ask them to open “Season X Episode Y of ShowName”.
I’d like to be able to share a link to movie/show/episode/etc with people who are already have access to my library. Something like “Share” button on youtube. Even without timecodes embedded into link it would be very helpful.

This suggestion is not a duplicate of “Share Movie” Link for People without MyPlex Accounts with optional expiration date as my suggestion doesn’t require sharing with anyone who doesn’t already have access to server

*There are already “Share” button, but it gives a useless link to watch.plex.tv, which only shows availability on streaming services. And “Copy link” under “Share” button doesn’t work at all if accessed via WebUI

You’ll have to instruct the other person to look for the MEDIA label on the side of their menu.

Viewing Media

Media items will be shown under a source called “Media” in the library list of the server. This “Media” source can be pinned to the home screen navigation sidebar in apps where it will also show the user and/or server is it being shared from.

Note that even in the “Media” source is pinned content from it will not show up in the home screen “Continue Watching” row

I think they mean like so they can send say a text message to a friend that already has access to full library.

“Hey friend, You should watch insert link to movie that goes directly to detail page from server so they can just hit play with no fuss its soooo good” that either opens web app or the app in their phone

I can personally imagine if the person did not already have access or account, that it initiate an access invite to the server or individual item

Actually that would be very nice. But In January 2021 you said “we have no current plans to add this to roadmap anytime, as Plex is not a file sharing app”, so I’ve been trying not to ask too much :grin: I’d be happy to hear that it’s changed!

if i said that I may have misunderstood the request. There were folks who just wanted to give links to friends without requiring that friend to create an account which I am against

Anyway, that was years ago. I hope this will find its way to release in foreseeable future
