Shared Playlists not showing up in Home Users Playlist section

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522
Player Version#: 1.108.1.307-dd5b87aa (Plex Mac, but problem is on all clients I have tried including iOS, Apple TV, and Shield/Andriod)

I have created multiple playlists and granted access to them to 2 of my Plex Home users. Neither of them can see any of the Playlists in any Player they have used (iOS, AppleTV, Shield, Mac). When clicking on “Playlists” for the correct Library (only library they are connected to) it says ‘“Playlists” is empty’

  • Some of the playlists are standard playlists, some are smart playlists
  • I have verified that both users have access to “All libraries”
  • Both of them correctly show all the playlists in their “Media” tab when looking at their user in the Plex Home settings with the correct item counts and everything
  • One user has no restrictions, the other has some restrictions in their Plex Home settings
  • I have tried restarting the server and the clients
  • I have tried logging out and back in on the clients

For playlists you gave access to that is where they will be. The “Playlist” source for a server only lists ones they created themselves.

To be clear, the “Media” tab I am talking about that I am using to verify they have access to the Playlists I shared with them is the Admin-only view that you get to via: Settings → Plex Home → Click the User → Media.

How is a User that wants to play something on one of the Playlists that was shared with them supposed to see the Playlist, see what items are in the Playlist, then click on an item to play?

OK, just did some digging and found another “Media” section at the same level as the “Playlists” that shows the shared playlists. Seems to be working. This is something that you guys should fix. Super confusing (for a pretty advanced tech person) that the “Playlists” section is only for “my own” playlists and not the ones that have been shared with me. I would highly recommend that you make it so that Shared Playlists show up there. Also, retitling the Media section (or making a new section) to “Shared Content” or even just “Shared” would also be something that could help, though less desirable.

Thank you,
Nate
