Sharing a Hunk o' Content

Hello,
As a musician, I have a number of original songs in the form of music videos within my overall Plex collection of Movies & TV shows that have been converted from DVD’s.

I’d like to give a copy of my music videos to a friend, along with the relevant section of the Plex Database structure, (thus hopefully making for a quick and instant import into my friends Plex collection).

Is there any way to export the section of my Plex database associated with my music videos?

Otherwise, I guess it might have to be manually created all over - (tiresome chore).

Cheers & Thanks.

Have you considered simply sharing that library with your friend?

Thanks tom80H,
That’s probably the less complicated way of doing this.

I was willing to give my friends copies of the files, but I think I’ll take your advice.

Thanks & Cheers.

If these are videos in mp4/m4v format, you might be able to embed the most important pieces of info into the files themselves. Namely the title, a description, a poster, and maybe a genre, or an album/collection title as embedded meta tags.
Most of these will be imported into Plex, if the server cannot (or is forbidden to) match the file to an external metadata source.

You can use tagger software like mp3tag to do that.
(here’s an introduction into its use for video files in Plex: MP4 Metadata (Tags) for Personal Media Shows )

Hi Otto,
Thanks for this info. I am familiar with MP3Tag by using it for my Audio Files.

I will immediately investigate your recommendations for Video files…

Sincere thanks.
