Sharing DVR recordings with friends on plex

Hi Everyone,

I tried and tried to find an answer to this question but failed :frowning:

I know that if you want to watch Live TV you have to have a plex pass (which is ok) and I know that if you want to record OTA TV you can do this with the DVR and hardware which I have bought and I have plex pass.

So while I wait for my HDHomeRun to be delivered I was just doing some research, If I record a tv show and put it in a “Recorded TV” library and share that area with my other plex friends will they be able to watch the recorded TV? I thought it would work as it would be the same as a non recorded file. (AVI, MKV, ETC.)??? (They do not have Plex Pass btw)

Yes. My son streams content from my server to his apartment and a friend streams to her house as well. Users in your home can also be allowed access to Live TV.

Thanks John, this is what I wanted to know  all the forums / information was saying i had have plex pass and I have that, but i think that is just to setup the DVR not to what a recorded

Yeah, neither my friend nor son have a Plex Pass. Correct, you need a Plex Pass to setup/configure your DVR but then are sharing your library collections with friends.
