My plex library is set up with 4 libraries, Grown up Films / TV & Kids Films / TV. This has worked great so far, and I have shared the kids films with friends and family that have kids etc. However now a couple of mine are getting older, and Id like to be able to share a few films that are in the Grown up libraries, ideally id like to be able to just label the film with whichever child id like to be able to access it, but it does not seem to be possible, without labeling everyhting in the Kid’s libraries, have i missed somthing?
Basically id want to share:
Everyhting in library A
Plus stuff in Library B Labeled child1 with child1 etc etc.
Thank you Otto for the speady reply, but i dont think that works in this situation? The Library folder controls what the Kids can watch, and within that age ratings for my kids, if I do this then they would be able to watch stuff in the ‘grown ups’ library that has that age rating right?
It is exactly the right thing for your use case.
Access permissions are not only controlled on a by-library basis as a whole. With a Plex Pass, the age rating of each individual item in the shared libraries is taken into account as well.
Hence why my procedure calls in step 2) to define which age ratings shall be generally available to the user in question. (Which excludes automatically all items, which don’t have one of the listed age certifications.)
Use “Switch User” to verify that the procedure has the desired effect.

No, you don’t.
A label is only required on those items, which have an age rating that is NOT in the “Allow Only Ratings” field.
But I do not want to generically allow Child1 to watch all gb15 films (for example) from the grown ups library if they are not already the Kid’s library. I don’t want to control what they are accessing by age rating.
Then labels will work, but you’ll have to label the original kids stuff as well, that could be just films or films and TV depending on what other stuff you want to share as the label restriction is per library
Thanks, ok, maybe I need to revisit how Im doing libraries now. Ive added a lot of the arr’s and my intention is that I will allow the kids to request thier own media automatically, so I guess I could automattically label that content and it would just be a bit tedious going through the existing stuff to get it labelled.
