Please add Sharing Labels to Library properties / advanced settings, then I could easily accomplish the above. Currently when using Sharing Labels, one must manually add the sharing label for everything in Library Alpha, and each time new content is added.
This doesn’t make sense to me.
If you only want to share specific content from library Bravo, you still need to revise the sharing labels after you added new content.
A sharing label on the library would share the library as a whole – i.e. the same what we already have now.
When you setup an account with sharing label restrictions (ie, “Allow only labels”) it doesn’t matter if you share the library with a user, everything in that library must have the label set, or they can’t see it. I would like to set labels on the libraries to make it easy to share entire libraries and share selectively as well.
Imagine Library Alpha contains 1,000 items.
I want to share all of Library Alpha with user “Jane”.
Currently you would have to click through 1000 items to set the sharing tag for each one, and then remember to do it for every new piece of content added.
Imagine Library Bravo contains 10,000 items.
Imagine you want to share a small number of specific items from Library Bravo with user “Jane”.
It is trivial to edit each item and add the sharing tag for these.
This request doesn’t seem to be very popular but it does keep popping up over the years. It being a simple ask, I was hopeful that it would get some attention, but that’s just the way it goes here.
Mods closed my thread on the same topic and redirect it here, then argue with the poster who clearly knows more about Plex than the mods. Incredible, really.
