Looking for information on best way to accomplish sharing. Daughter going to school and looking to get give her remote access to home Plex. I get that part.

Question more on Managed account vs invite friends.

She created a free plex account and suppose she can use this, Need both, one or other. If I use managed then I think I need to isolate all with pins?

Considering your daughter is moving away to go to school, I take it you have no need for parental controls. Hence… and because she already got her own Plex account… there should be no need for a managed user.

You can still decide if you want to invite her Plex account into your “Plex Home” or if you simply want to invite her as a “Friend”. The concept of a “Plex Home” is usually targeted at use cases where you actually live under the same roof.

Tom-Thanks

The goal and maybe lack a familiarity is.

  1. Invite her as friend and she uses plex account to see library I give access to
  2. At home and all other users, plex app on xbox, Roku, phones etc don’t need pin or login.

Outside I’m only giving her access (me too) but no one else.

Frankly other than her others are only using on roku or xbox internally

Also the other question is there are 2 sections

PlexHome and friends.

Does it matter or differ if I "Invite Existing user " - her or under friends grant access, user her email and set there? As I really only care about her as a secondary account when using not at home

If she is already appearing amongst your friends, you can simply grant her access.
If she is not, you first need to “invite existing account”.

She will have to log in to her account using a web browser and accept your invitation.

Hi Otto,

Thanks. In the interface I see Plex Home and Friends

I assume under friends I can just Grant lib access and add her email versus having to “Invite Existing User” under Plex Home? Basically do I have to do in both places or better just as a friend

Inviting her into your home will enable her to “Switch User” to your account – even when she is out of house.
So I’d try first without that ability – simply for security reasons. You never know who will get access to her phone, computer or other devices.
