I have given my brother access to my Movies library but in my Manage Library Access settings I am seeing some conflicting information. First, he has accepted the invitation and I can see that he has under Manage Library Access. Second, when I click on his user under Friends with library access it shows that he has access to my Plex server and the Movies library under the Libraries menu. However, if I choose Media in the menu it shows what he has access to and the message is “You haven’t granted access to anything yet.”. This is in conflict with the message under the Libraries menu. I have gone to my Plex > Home > Movies > Grant Access and again I can verify that his user shows up as a Friend under Grant Library Access> I click his username and it shows a checkmark and I click continue. I select the Movies library to grant him access and click Save. However, when I go back to Manage Library Access it still shows the message “You haven’t granted access to anything yet.” under Media for his user.
I have verified that remote access is enabled and I am able to access my Plex media using the Plex app on my phone connected only to cellular network.
Any ideas on why this message appears under Media and is in conflict with what shows under what Libraries he is shown as having access to under his user ID in Manage Library Access settings?
Granting access to libraries and access to media are 2 different things. You can grant access to an entire library at a time, that goes under library, but you can also share individual media items. i.e. a single movie from a library that is not already shared. These show up under media.
Edit - When you share individual items, these show up to the user under a “Shared” library that appears in the sidebar.
