Sharing Server with Non-Plexpass Friends/Family

I’m a plex pass subscriber and I share my library with family who are non-plex pass subscribers. In fact most of them don’t even run a server of their own. This has been working flawlessly but recently it seems the free users can only access about 30 seconds of my content before they are faced with a paywall to continue.

Is this something new? I can’t seem to find any info on it?

Unless this happens since like 5 minutes ago this is not the case i have plexpass and all my users can use it without limitation.

This should only apply to mobile clients and it’s officially been this way for… well… it already was that way when I joined

That being said… I remember some users who reported a similar issue / change of behavior some time ago. It seems there used to be some cases in which the Plex apps didn’t properly apply this restriction.

Non-mobile apps (e.g. Plex Media Player, Plex Web, Plex on your TV) are not restricted in this way.

I’m not a plex pass user, And share mine with family on PS4’s LG TV’s , Ipads had no recent complaints, non of them have servers of there own.

Ah thanks guys… this explains it I think. The family member who is having the most issues was one who loaded plex on an iPad and screenshared it to their TV. I suspect this would be considered “mobile” since it’s an iPad app.
