I have Plex Pass subscription
But users are limited to only 1 minute of playback in the app. A window pops up on the app asking for a “One time purchase…”
This is on iOS and Android. It works if logged in thru web browser, though.
This just started happening in last 4-5 days. Wasn’t an issue previously.
Are those members of your Plex Home or just users/friends with whom you’re sharing libraries?
The 1-minute playback restriction should only apply to the old mobile apps (pre version 2025.X). Having a Plex Pass membership removed the need to activate those apps separately — for yourself and members of your Plex Home. Other users had to have their own Plex Pass or activate the apps using a one-time in-app purchase (activation is linked to the App Store, so they might have multiple activations, e.g. for iOS and Google Play / FireOS app stores).

I somewhat recall something like that years ago, I believe what may have prompted me to get the Plex Pass originally.
I’ve got (1) user I’m t/s’ing with right now and started with their device (logout/login, reboot, etc)
It wasn’t an issue until just recently and haven’t changed anything on my end (server side).

Friends don’t benefit from your Plex Pass when it comes to the app activation.
The new mobile apps no longer require the activation… while there’s still a lot of commotion on how they still need fixed / aren’t covering everything users ask for at this point, this might be suitable for your friends.

Updating the app resolved the issue.
It affects both iOS and Android.
Was actually t/s’ing this with my daughter’s and have kinda instilled in her to never update anything unless you really must, Cause you never know what you’re gonna get (u know, due to all the iphone, tesla, sony, etc… horror stories over the years).
