I love the idea of audio enhancement. The issue I have is that the Android players I have (Shield and ONN) are both version 10.30.8.4222. which is no where similar to the version required for this feature. Any idea when a newer client version will roll out or when the audio enhancement will roll out for this numbering scheme? Thanks for any info.

The Shield has an audio “Night Mode” of its own, btw. You can find it in the device settings of the Shield.
I knew about the Shield Night Mode but it only works with HDMI connections. One TV is optical and the other uses the built-in speakers. I’m happy to hear that the Plex solution will be soon-ish. Thanks for the update.
I’m not aware of any other plug type to get audio out of a Shield. Once it reaches the TV, the compressed audio signal can be used with any speaker, even built-in ones.
Okay maybe I’m confused (WHAT?? ME???) My Shields are connected to the TV. However, my speakers (actually neck speakers) are connected optically. I interpreted the Shield info as that the speakers / sound bars also needed to be connected via HDMI. I’m going to give it a try tonight with my built in speakers to see if that works. Yes, but they are connected to the TV, right? So the audio gets through HDMI from Shield to TV, and then optically from TV to speakers. By which point the Shield has long since applied the compression/Night mode.
Yes - speakers are connected to the TV via optical cable. And I use the built-in speakers for the other.
That doesn’t matter.
As long as the player is the Shield, you should be able to use its Night Mode.
