When my wife and I are browsing movies on Shield TV Pro 2019 and we are using a filter like genre or year or resolution, when we select a movie to view details about it and then we exit the details back to the list of movies, it skips up to the top of the list instead of maintaining our place in the list.
The result is that we have to scroll all the way back to where we were in the list in order to continue our browsing where we left off. This doesn’t happen with other Plex clients, on other platforms that I’ve tried.
I went here: Plex for Android - #338 by romancamelia. I downloaded an older Plex client version 8.31.2.31546 for Google Play arm64v8a and it no longer goes back to the start. I’m using a 2019 Shield so arm64v8a was appropriate.
UPDATE: I sided-loaded a bunch of different versions of the APK and found that Plex for Android 9.3.1 worked best. After that version is when the bug started.
I have exactly the same issue. Moreover, if you set random order ti the library view and click on a movie to look at the details, when you come back the app crashes and reboot.
I will give a try to Plex for Android 9.3.1. Am I correct assuming it is the Android Version and not the Plex Movies & TV app for Android TV?
All of the APK’s are called “Plex for Android”. Also, you have to go into the Google Play Store settings and turn off Automatic Updates or it will reinstall the latest version. I’m glad this is working for me because I was very close to getting rid of the Shield and switching to Apple TV 4k. Thing I like better about Shield is the ability to passthrough the audio to my receiver.
Hello! Thanks for your insight/testing. I confirm that the app version you have suggested is properly working and stable. Unfortunately it’s quite a big step back in terms of look & feel but I will try to get used to the legacy layout, hoping that someone from the team will fix it in a future update.
