First, the metadata override:
The metadata takes priority over the library system. For example I have a folder called Shingeki No Kyojin. Under that I have three folders called Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3, each containing the corresponding episodes. But season 3 episodes register as season 1 and I have to always start with ‘play version’(just because the metadata isn’t filled in with season info). This problem plagues at least the third of my library. And half of my library has a release date of 1900 January 1., If the client can fetch box art for each show why can’t it update the correct release date?
Second largest problem is subtitles and converting. I have series with eng subs included in the mkv files and Hungarian subs as .ass files(this would be preferred). If this is the case, if I select hun subs, English will display, only on shield client, on browser it’s working correctly. The only way I can deal with this is to convert the stream to another quality. The problem with this is, automatic converting doesn’t work(infinite loading), and manual converting is causing horrible degradation(1080p 60FPS media has to be converted to 720p 2mb stream).
Third the fast forward and backward. It’s just completely nuts. I fast forward 2-3minutes, and when I try to go back to where I was, it jumps to even further ahead. I can’t make sense of why this happens.
I’ve been using Plex for 7 years now on the Shield TV, and if I’m honest there were no time when it didn’t have problems, but since the last “big” update it’s horrible. Please give us some options to deal with this.
