Yes. Several dropouts last couple of movies, with dts-HD and TrueHD + Atmos audio. Running Shield Experience 8 on a Shield Pro. Latest updates installed. Can pull revision numbers if needed.
I don’t run Kodi on my Shield, so cannot compare.
Did not happen immediately after installing Shield Experience 8, but maybe I just missed it then.
The interesting thing for me is I was assured I was getting Audio dropouts on my Shield even if they were so micro I couldn’t detect them.
Then they became so noticeable (at least a second or so every few minutes.)
Now Im back to either none or at least that nothing I can detect again.
Has there been any update since this …it’s making 4K streaming unwatchable…some of my 1080p\720p is plagued by it too …I was looking to upgrade my Shield Tv Pro to the 2019 version too …would hate if this is still a issue
I was having terrible audio dropouts today with a 4K Atmos movie using the Plex app. I use HDMI passthrough to my Yamaha RX-A3050. It was happening every 30 seconds or so. I ended up installing MRMC, enabled audio passthrough, and logged in to my Plex account through it. It played great with no dropouts. MRMC is a fork of Kodi, so I’m sure Kodi would work too. I’ll stick with this solution until Plex can get their app working right.
Tip to get around the BS is to go into your plex devices settings, advanced, player, and put a check mark in the option “Use External Player” this will give you the option to select a 3rd party player app such as Kodi, VLC, Mx Player Pro, etc. which doesn’t have this advanced audio track dropout issue. Still can’t believe this hasn’t been addressed by Plex QC Team yet. Hope this helps some people out! Screenshot_20191117-212645_Plex|690x1456
This thread is re:
Audio dropouts on the Shield which is a known issue acknowledged by Nvidia. Nvidia just released a HotFix to resolve this on the 2015/2017 ShieldTV.
I’ve had the hot fix Since the day it came out and still get dropouts on Disney TrueHD titles Like Toy story 4, apparently the Shield TV has a limitation on high bit rate Audio. I don’t think it will ever get fixed unfortunately.
Here’s info from one of the mods on the shield forum.
Apparently this hot fix only fixes the random audio drop outs and not the audio dropouts your hear at the same place because of the spike in bit rate.
Interesting curious Nik3sh what is your ISP’s speedtier that you’re subscribed to and how large is the file you are streaming also did you verify it was direct play or was it trying to transcode? I finally got to test last night after the hot fix loaded to my Shield but only one movie so I played a direct play of Matrix whuch had a True Dolby HD track and seemed to play flawless for the half the movie I watched or rather listened to. I will try more this weekend and see if I can duplicate it with a file similar to yours.
Everything direct plays, this isn’t an issue on my end! it’s a known issue with Disney UHD titles with high bit rate Atmos tracks, if you have toy story 4 or the latest pirates of the Caribbean film, you can test it, there are sound dropouts at the same location everytime, it’s not random dropouts which this latest hot fix was for.
Obviously there’s no audio drop outs for The matrix its made by Warner brothers not Disney.
If you read the link on the shield forum I copied above the mods admit this too.
Here’s another forum that goes into much more detail.
@TechBoi Time specific HD audio droputs with Disney UHD 4K remuxes is a known issue by both Nvidia and Plex. This is not a Plex issue. This is an issue with the buffer on the Shield.
