The next two steps for setting up my media server (pre-Plex DVR) using a 16GB Shield, is to:
Add a multi-terabyte hard drive as removable for the purpose of DVR functions.
Add a micro SD card as internal storage where transcoding would occur. It’s my understanding that the metadata would stay on the original internal storage, unless Plex makes this possible in the future.
Don’t know how Plex adding their DVR option will affect things but hopefully I’m not painting myself into a corner in case I take advantage of that way of doing things.
I don’t know how good or bad my research is on all this. If anyone can set me straight…

Currently all temp DVR files are stored in a hidden folder inside the destination folder of the recording. So as long as you set the destination folder on the attached drive you should be fine.
(Assuming nothing drastically changes when it is implemented on the SHIELD)
I got the HDHomeRun DVR working yesterday. Tested the recording process which worked. I couldn’t find where one would set the destination folder so it’s going to whatever the default location is. Do I need to do anything more?

I don’t want to buy the card if I don’t truly need it…

I couldn’t find the hidden folders.
Since I had a 240GB SSD available, I set it up as internal storage and moved all the data I have control over to the new SSD. All appears to be working.
My question besides the previous stated, do most things now occur on the SSD, other than the apps/data that were originally loaded on the original internal storage?
Here are where the DVR recordings are kept by PLEX on my SSD: \SHIELD\internal\TV Shows, in case this helps anyone. It appears my previous questions will go unanswered for now…
