Shield tv client app weird connection issues

The last October version on aptoide works. I guess I can try each version and see where the problem starts.

I am having the same problem. I have a local network server and a remote server. My wife occasionally watches stuff on the remote server and now it does now work. It says server unavailable or offline, even tho I can see it on all other devices. It started after the last update. This is obviously a Shield TV player update issue judging by this thread. If I activate my VPN on the shield, I can see the remote server, but then my local server becomes unavailable. I will try to uninstall Plex Player updates to essentially rollback. Hopefully that fixes the problem until it is fixed.

So issues are back after several days. My GF was able to “repair” it again with disable LAN -> Restart SHIELD -> start plex player in SHIELD -> reenable LAN.
I will try to get some logs from shields and post them later.

Just a FYI, still not working with latest beta update. And not just affecting NVIDIA shield. Happening also on my parents generic android Tv box

Tried the new version and nothing
saw the new ad streaming service, but didn’t try it because I went to aptoide and rolled back and tried several versions, version 7.24.0.13560 is working fine for me but I loose the ad streaming service for now. If I install a version higher than this I loose connection again.

I have the same problem with the newest Plex Client on my Shield TV 2017 and my local Media Server. After uninstalling all updates it works

Hey I’m also having this problem. But to no surprise the ad supported ”Movies and TVs" work just fine. Odd coincident.

I installed 7.26.0.14321 and still the same problem. It works when you first open it. After you close the app and reopen it then it can’t find the server.

I am experiencing the same issue since the update that contained the new player in it. My server is remote and was working just fine prior to the recent update.

I have determined, through frustrating trial and error, that if I close Plex on my Shield TV (via double home button press) and open it 3 times in a row, on the third time everything seems to work fine.

This is consistent and the household method for watching anything on Plex now is “try opening and closing the app 3 times.”

I have the exact problem. My LAN topology is the same as yours. I’m using SHIELD 2015 with latest Plex client and server app. My SHIELD Plex server and client IP address is 192.168.0.13.
I always have the problem of Plex client showing connection issue icons for my server, my friend’s servers, and sometime even Plex Tidal server.
But when I use Plex for iPhone and Android phone I can use these servers.

It’s very annoying and it seems random. I have to reset my Plex home dashboard every single time I use Plex to somewhat fix the issue. But this doesn’t always work. I tested it with my Plex Pass and free account, it has the same symptoms. Sometime I have to click “retry connection” to fix it but most of the time it doesn’t work.

Another symptoms is that the servers was shown as not having direct connection so I get the warning of using Plex Relay. Even playing Plex free movies with ads gets this warning!
But the movies are all playing direct play without Plex Relay!
It’s so annoying because you can’t browse through your friends servers but you can create list of all movies and play them all just fine with direct play, without Plex Relay.

I’m guessing Plex client app for shield tv is bogging down the Nvidia shield device such that packets are delayed or dropped or ignored that create some cascading effect randomly.
Because when I tried to uninstall both Plex server and client SHIELD app to the old factory reset version everything is good.
Even on the phone, latest Android phone Plex app doesn’t have this problem.

They seem to have patched it in today’s update: Plex for Android

After updating I still have the same server offline issue

Restarted my Shield TV, and my media server
 No change.
I’m going to downgrade again

THANK YOU, PLEX FOR THIS MARVELOUS UPDATE.
