Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: 7.25.1.14216 (96f60a68)
So I’m having issues where the Shield client isn’t able to locate the server. I can add the server to my account and use it fine, but when closing the app or after sleep/reboot it usually can’t find it again. It just says the server is “Currently Unavailable”.
It’s been working great for a few months but just now suddenly decided to give up.
It can find the server sometimes if I restart the app a few times but it very sporadic.
I can run other apps fine to the same server without issue (jellyfin, iperf), it seems that plex is the only one with issues.
Anyone have any idea what it could be? All help appreciated.
I did not have the issue before I took that update. Now I have the issue. It is really bad. Opening and closing the app 10 plus times and still can’t find the server. I uninstalled everything and put it all back on the shield and still broke. Did this fix the issue that you were having?
I have restarted multiple times and it still doesn’t work. I’m still constantly getting server is currently unavailable. I really hope they release a update that works soon.
I’ve had the same issue over the last 2 weeks. Even though the most recent Android update fixed it for both my phone and Shield, I was still getting random issues with server connectivity.
The only way I was able to resolve it was to roll back to PMS version 1.16.6.1592. If you’ve not done a roll back before, just uninstall Plex Media Server, and reinstall with that version or something close to it (as long as it’s on 1.16.x.xxx). All databases and settings will remain intact upon reinstall.
Same issue here using PMS 1.18.2.2058 and latest shield client. Sometimes connection will reset after logging out and logging back in on the shield but not consistently. Will roll back PMS to 1.16 as suggested and see if that helps.
Same issue, it’s temporarily fixed by just switching users. I’ve even had a reboot fail to fix it now but the switching users is easy enough though annoying. I doubt it a server issue because the only client that does it is a shield, out of a Roku, Mi Box and Xbox One.
