Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#:latest from play store
Hi, i have been having weird issuer with both of my shields (2017 and 2019 PRO).
I have plex server running on QNAP NAS. last two days, my shields are saying, that it cannot find server, but i can play videos from “homescreen” of android TV launcher - plex starts, i can play video, switch to next one without any issues… but plex client just wont connect to server, if launched directly… Only solution i found is: switch to wifi, than plex connects (cable connection is to same router as wifi), than i can disable wifi, and plex is working for few hours, than it looses connection again… other devices (android phones, laptops with plex WIN app and browser) works corretly… i tried to reinstall app on shield, update server to latest version, nothing helps…
than there is persisting issue with new intel driver (after each update, i have to manually delete new driver from plex install folder - otherwise almost everything is transcoding because of subtitles) -> getting weird green screen and no playback… is some update comming for this issue ?
Regarding the green screen codec failure on the Shield, which player version are you using? I ask because I was working with development versions of the app and saw the same on a brand new Shield 2019 pro
Hi, i am away from home for weekend, from my head
server IP is 192.168.1.123 (plex port 32400)
Shield 2017 192.168.1.4
Shiled 2019 192.168.1.171
Main switch (cisco) is 192.168.1.102, WIFI router is 192.168.1.103 and is directly connected to cisco, everything is connected to this cisco router by cable, i am using wifi only for mobiles and laptops.
weird is, that videos can be played from “homescreen” of android tv launcher - it runs plex player directly.
I will get back with IPs of wifi connected shields as soon as i get home…
I have the same problem with my Nvidia Shield, the newer versions when they start they are unable to find the servers, even if I try to start them over and over again. So I made a little test, I removed all the updates and went back to the factory settings. And it works everytime! So I decided to test and even used Aptoide to install newer versions and they all fail, so I decided yet again to uninstall and go back and it works fine. So I installed the newer version yet again and it fails, restarted shield and it keeps doing the same, can’t find the servers. So I went back to the factory setting app and it works everytime. So a) it’s not a media server problem, b) it’s a player problem how it searches for the servers on startup. So I have to keep using the older version with no new features or player. And yes…I tried disabling the new player and it didn’t hep at all. I’m ethernet connected.
Same issues on Nvidia shield pro (500 gb) 2017. I found a temporary work around, switch users, then switch back. Unfortunately, you will have to do it every time you close the app.
I had no issues before and it started when updated to the latest version. If I go back and go to the older version it works without any problems. My shield is at 192.168.1.68, and my laptop comes at 192.168.1.92 for example. Everything is in the 192.168.1.xx range.
I have the exact same problem. Ever since the latest Android update I can no longer reliably connect to my remote server. So annoying that a release like this would be pushed with such a huge bug. Has rendered my experience useless. Only remedy is to log out and log in every time. And on a nvidia shield that is frustrating as hell. Lets hope a update comes ASAP
My shields are OK for now (since friday night)… Wifi IP are assigned by dhcp in range 192.168.1.150-180, so there should not be any issue with network…
Unfortunately it worked once for me, but no longer works… so I will be back at the factory reset version that has no bugs and works fine. Clearly something changed that used to work with no problems to something that happens to several people.
