SHIELD TV Pro server not connecting and never has

I have tried numerous times to set up a Plex server on my NVIDIA SHield TV Pro, i ended up giving up. However, I wanted to have one last run at it. I’ve installed the Sever and Player on the Shield, but regardless of what I have tried I always get the following error message on the dashboard when I try to access it from my laptop to set up library etc:

app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “SHIELD Android TV” securely

What am I doing wrong I was under the impression that this was supposed to be easy to set up.

I am looking for an answer to this too- o got the shield especially for the task of being a server for plex and to be honest think. I have wasted my money, I have used plex server from a PC for years but want to reduce running costs.
If someone does have any kind of answer to this question would be grateful to respond on here
