using plex on a tv shield i have had a lot of playback issues that have been piling up for some time.
indeed my sound output is done on a logitech z5500 set and for that I use the audio passtrouth option for ac3 and DTS.
But since
is the latest update (server and client) I realize when this optical passtrouth option is activated it is impossible for me to play files containing eac3 audio on my shield tv. it becomes very boring and was not the case before.
It would be very appreciable that the application of the shield tv be reviewed so that the transcoding of the audio tracks is done directly on it because Kodi knows how to do this without worries.
when I play these files via my phone and cast them on the shield it works, when I play these files via the plex plugin for kodj it works, when I play these files directly via kodi it works, it doesn’t it’s only in the official plex application that it doesn’t work… I then have to switch to hdmi passtrouth (but the sound is then not the one expected by my Z5500)…
really disappointing that the only application that limits use at this point is the native plex application on shield tv, especially since this latter is quite able to read these files via other applications…
For the moment I am therefore turning to the plex plugin for kodi in order to make the most of my library but I sincerely hope that it will be updated very soon because over time I have lost functionality in the plex application while I took a plex pass in order to make the most of it…
If some of you have managed to get around this problem of reading eac3 tracks on the shield tv, please show up and help me solve this because I am tearing my hair out trying to find a suitable setting without result until there…
