So I was wandering… When do you plan to add shortcuts to, for example, switch subtitles, turn subtitles on/off, switch languages in DESKTOP version of Plex player, which is my main player.
I like my desktop version. I don’t want any other. I just need to sometimes show subtitles so I can understand and it pains me to do it with like 5 click of mouse. Distracting. Every other player on the world has Subtitles On/Off shortuc…
It’s been years. Can you give me an update on this? Thank you.

This support article refers to the “Plex Media Player”. If you want to use that type of client, you might want to take a look at the Plex HTPC app which is currently in preview stage (this is the future successor of the old “Plex Media Player”).
So hey. I tried to download and use Plex HTPC.
After install and running for the first one, anything I click on, there wasn’t any “back” button.
When I tried to press “Backpace” few times, a menu for login appeared.
So I clicked on it and it gave me a “plex.tv/link” link to active this so I did and…

So… I understand it’s still on Beta.
So I can’t even see my stuff in there. Or anything.
Just letting you know my setps to get it working. Without a success.
Okay, progress. So I just tried to restart the app once again and it did appear. Even with my stuff! Nice.
But. My god… Scrolling doesn’t work at all. It’s reacting on my mouse click but not scrolling…
And the main problem. Do you see it in this screenshot?
Do you see the problem? I see nothing usable. That’s my problem.
I don’t even know how to access my categories “Anime movies, TV Series”.
I don’t link to be acid/sour or anything but is something really working on this that wants to use plex as a daily driver or his/her media player? Because if I would be the chief, I wouldn’t approve to leak this to public or to insiders/developers. I would be to ashamed. This is just not working at all… (I’m a programmer so I know it’s not easy to make something like this but I know what I would pass to the public… Not this. NOT this…)

If you want an app which you can operate with a mouse, you use “Plex for Windows/Mac”.
If you want an app which you can operate with a traditional remote control, you use the “Plex HTPC” app.
(You can operate it with your PC keyboard as well. The most important keys are the cursor keys, Enter, and Esc. You can reach the sidebar with the list of libraries by pressing [left], repeatedly if necessary.)
Both apps are supporting switching audio tracks and subtitles during playback, btw.
You can find the menu item after pausing playback.
