I generally have my Movie library sorted by Release Date, but it takes forever to scroll down the list. When alphabetically sorted, there are handy letter shortcuts on the right side of the screen to speed up scrolling. It’d be great if Release Date ordering had shortcuts on the right side as well, preferably with the option for either decades or years.
Just to get this straight…
you’re talking about the alphabet index, wanting a decade/year index instead when sorting your library by a date based order?
When I am looking at my Movies in Library view with the sorting set up like in the upper left of this image, I am shown a list of letter shortcuts by the scroll bar like in the right side of this image. When I have my movies sorted as in the bottom of this image, it’d be useful to have years or decades listed to the right of the scroll bar to move through my library faster.
Does this help in clarify things?

Love this idea.
This is still very much needed. It’s almost impossible to scroll through thousands of files manually without reference points in the timeline. I would take this a step further and break it down by year, month, and even the day, perhaps some kind of expandable system similar to how Apple does its camera roll on iOS
