Should all albums have sonically similar albums?

Just finished sonic analysis and I’m browsing through the results. I have a few albums with no sonically similar albums. Is that expected? Or should every one have at least one it is sonically similar to?

It is expected. Some albums are just “insular”, particularly if the collection is not overly large and this album is the only one you have by that artist. Or if it’s not the only album, the artist may have changed their style significantly on this one.

It can also happen with particularly bad [bootleg] recordings.

That makes sense. Album is nevermind the bollocks by Sex Pistols so I figured something else would be similar but not a big deal.

Could you please post a screenshot of what it looks like albums are shown to be similar to the one you are viewing? I just finished analyzing my entire library and I can’t find this feature at work anywhere.

You can see some examples in the related support article

Here’s a specific example from an album in my library. Sometimes those similarities aren’t immediately obvious – though they make great mixes

Cheers! I guess my library is still analyzing and all the similarities will appear once it’s done because so far I have not found any (I have around 6000 albums).

You’ll only see the results of the sonic analysis when it’s all done… similarities won’t start showing up gradually along the analysis progress.

Thank you for confirming!
