Just wondering why Plex has decided to transcode a 1080i DVB-T stream from HDHomeRun to 1080p. Is this a bug or is it by design?
I can manually change it once playback starts but next time around it will transcode it again. Did check to make sure the server recognises it as a local device and it does.
Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228
Player Version#: 8.14.1.23548
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO HDHR5-4DT
Guide/Lineup name: Freeview
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: 9 HD/ 90
By design, you can disable it in the client settings if you wish. This was created I think due to issues with interlaced content not playing on all clients.
Thanks for the reply. Could you point me to the setting? I have tried all but can’t find it except when the broadcast is playing then I can select a different resolution and then select original and sometimes it will change to the original res.
Strange that it does this as the HDHomeRun android tv app handles it fine.
Plex client settings, Advanced section at the very bottom… you’ll see at the far right “Transcode interlaced Live TV” - switch it off; if you see errors later on, you’ll need to turn it back on.
