Should the PLEX app on my LG TV be able to see the built-in DLNA server in my modem/router?

Warning - Total Newbie here.
The title says it all. The TV is a new LG UP8000, and its native Media Player function is poor. It has a good wifi connection to my network, and will play movies from the server in my modem, but I was hoping that PLEX might give me a better visual/control interface. I installed the PLEX app from the LG store, but it doesn’t appear to see the server. Should it?

Plex clients do not connect to DLNA servers, they connect to Plex Servers.
