LG WebOS app not seeing local server, but seeing remote servers

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: 5.1.3 for webOS 4.2.0

So I’ve recently moved my plex server into a VM, this is working great, content is available inside my network on various windows pc’s, externally for content shared to friends, and even on my phone over 4G.

Except on my Tv… this can see my friends plex server, and stream from him reliably, but cannot connect to my local server :expressionless:

So far I’ve tried:

  • DLNA server on/off
  • Lan Networks specified as server/24, and specifcally as the TV IP
  • IPv6 support enabled/disabled on server
  • IPv6 is disabled on the TV
  • Manually adding server IP’s (internal and external, with relevant ports) to TV
  • Reenabled the guest account

Kinda running out of ideas, this was working without issue on a windows server recently.

In your Plex Tv app settings. Bottom of left menu

Manual Server
Add your Server LAN IP address and port 32400

Advanced settings.
Allow insecure connections - on same network
Prefer insecure connections - on same network

Server settings/Network
Secure connections - Preferred

No joy with those settings (in fact they were already set that way)

You did restart everything

Everything has been restarted, happy to try it again.

I even have reinstalled the app, I’m tempted to stand the original server back up as a new server and see if the tv sees that locally.

Hey guys!.. same problem here with same Plex app on LG tv.
since your app was updated on my LG TV, it’s not working anymore.
The app is unable to connect my #PLEX server at all.
However, all other plex instances (W10, tablet and android phones) are working properly, but the LG PLEX app.
What’s wrong with it?

Can you connect to remote servers?

I can connect to remote PLEX server from all my other devices, but suddenly PLEX doesn’t work anymore on my 2 LG tv. All other PLEX instances are working properly even in local, even in remote mode.
Why Plex app on LG tv stopped to work as expected?
We hope you can fix it asap.
Regards,

Hmmm your tv is on that list twice… maybe remove and readd?

No at all. It’s not my TV listed twice… I’ve two differents LG tv on my home network. I had same problem on both Plex app LG TVs when previously they were working properly. Suddendly they stopped to work as they used to do.

Okay, that’s wierd. Does it still happen if you leave the early access? Mine is having issues in and out of early access, on all tvs.

BUT my tv can play media from my mates server on another network…

  • LG TVs and PMS on the same subnet? Didn’t move TVs to an IOT vlan or anything recently?
  • PMS server settings > Network, sure “Secure Connections” set to “Preferred”? If so, try moving it to disabled temporarily
  • Restart PMS service? Restart LG TV (or unplug power cables for 5-10 seconds)?
  • PMS server settings > Network, “Disable weak TLS versions” make sure is unticked
  • PMS server settings > Network, “Enable local network discovery (GDM)” make sure is ticked
  • PMS server settings > Network, “LAN Networks” type out your network addresses, e.g. 192.168.1.0/24 (you wanna use your network address here, which ends in .0 for a CIDR /24 instead of the PMS server IP, also don’t put your TV IPs in here)
  • Can your PMS server VM ping the IP addresses of your LG TVs?
  • LG TVs and PMS on the same subnet? Didn’t move it to an IOT vlan or anything recently?
    Same Subnet
  • PMS server settings > Network, sure “Secure Connections” set to “Preferred”? If so, try moving it to disabled temporarily
  • Restart PMS service? Restart LG TV (or unplug power cables for 5-10 seconds)?
  • PMS server settings > Network, “Disable weak TLS versions” make sure is unticked
    Unchecked
  • PMS server settings > Network, “Enable local network discovery (GDM)” make sure is ticked
    Checked
  • PMS server settings > Network, “LAN Networks” type out your network addresses, e.g. 192.168.1.0/24 (you wanna use your network address here, which ends in .0 for a CIDR /24 instead of the PMS server IP)
    Done every permutation
  • Can your PMS server VM ping the IP addresses of your LG TVs?
    Yes

try unlinking and relinking your LG TVs? Remove both LGs as authorized devices then go sign out of the TVs and sign back in and relink the account. When I moved my Plex server, I had the same issue, but on my TVs when I went to browse for other servers (like a friends server), it listed my server twice, the old one and new one. Unlinking the TV then relinking the TV removed the old/bad server.

same than Thomas here!

What it’s really weird is both LG TVs had same problem connection to Plex server at same time. All other devices playing Plex server’s files are working properly.
The problem appeared at the moment Plex launched the new user interface.

LG TVs are able to connect and play any file is in the same home network.

Okay, so I’ve had a chance to restart the server and proper power cycle the tv.

Still got the same issue.

I already did that. Same result.

I’ve also done that, to no effect. I’m fairly sure this is a server issue, as it effects mine, and my mates tv, when accessing my server.

Both tv’s are able to access his server.

I have no issue accessing my server from internet devices, both on and off my network

I think there’s a general problem with new Plex app on LG tvs. Probably until you definitely fix that, fast and easy correction would be a downgrade available.
