Server Version#: 1.20.4.3517-ab5e1197c_amd64.deb
Player Version#: Two different LG TVs
Plex is running on a Ubuntu 18.04 server on wired LAN. IP: 192.168.88.92
One TV is connected to the same wired LAN. IP: 192.168.88.39
Another TV is connected to the same LAN via Wi-Fi.
Both TVs don’t see the Plex server at all. No any traces. I restarted TVs just to be sure. At that - LAN and Internet work perfectly on the TVs. For example I can ping them from linux and I can play Netflix videos on them.
I don’t use any firewalls on Linux.
On Linux I can view files in the library and play them locally.
I open localhost:32400/web.
In the Plex WebOS app settings you must allow insecure connections on LAN, as well as fall back. On Server side/Network/ Secure connections - Preferred. Also best not enabling IPv6 in Plex server and LG TV Network settings.
Manual server settings in Plex clients add your Server LAN IP and port (32400)
P.S. And can I also disable everything else? Like: please don’t play that serious, be just a DLNA app for this folder on my LAN, seed its content, don’t ask questions, don’t require Internet, don’t log me or somebody in, just be simple? Or I need something else for that?
It didn’t help actually. My TVs were not able to see anything.
But while I was digging in the settings I discovered that DLNA was SWITCHED OFF for some reason! Since this is a new account (and I manually killed other settings), it’s obvious that it was set to OFF by default. But as far as I understand, without DLNA TVs cannot see or play anything. This is so weird…
